Virtual History Conversation

April 28, 2020 @ 2:00 pm

“Sugarland and its Sources: Telling the Story of an African American Town” features local writer Jeff Sypeck. Jeff will talk about the process of collaborating on a book about the African American community of Sugarland with Gwen Reese and Suzanne Johnson, two descendants of the town’s founding families. Focusing on rare or recently discovered sources, he will focus on the personalities of the men and women who established Sugarland after emancipation. He will also discuss the continuing importance of writing African American experiences back into the history of Montgomery County.

This session will be conducted via Zoom. More information about how to attend this virtual presentation is available at MontgomeryHistory.org.
