Weekday Hike

CCC Living History Program

Come to Seneca Creek State Park for a special twilight campfire living history program on “Roosevelt’s Tree Army,” the Civilian Conservation Corps during the Great Depression. Historian/Interpreter Ranger Erik will appear in character as George Richter, a civilian enrollee from Gaithersburg working at the CCC camp in New Germany State Park, to give you a first-person account of daily life in the Great Depression, the work of the CCC in Maryland’s parks, and impact of the Corps on the lives…

Volunteer Opportunity: Weed Warriors

Join a state park ranger and help to remove some of the invasive plants that threaten Maryland's natural ecosystems. Close-toed shoes, bug spray, and work gloves are recommended. Ages 10 and older; may be canceled due to bad weather.
