A one-hour hike to see what wildlife can be found in Patuxent River State Park. Wear comfortable walking shoes and meet at the Route 97 parking lot.

Weekday Hike

Seneca Creek State Park

This is your chance to get some fresh air and exercise after work! Hike a loop of between 1.5 and 2 miles, with frequent stops for plant and animal sightings and praying mantis egg case searches. Meet at Kingfisher Overlook.

Free Evening Concert

Glen Echo Park 7300 MacArthur Boulevard, Glen Echo

It's the summer's final free concert at Glen Echo Park! James Bazen Big Band is an exciting progressive jazz ensemble featuring music from the repertoires of Stan Kenton, Bob Florence, Gordon Goodwin, Bob Mintzer, plus some originals by James Bazen. Concerts are held in the Bumper Car Pavilion and take place rain or shine.

Annual Labor Day Art Show Reception

Take Me Fishing

Seneca Creek State Park

Join an expert angler for a beginner's course in fishing. The park supplies rods and reels, or you may bring your own. Anyone 16 or older must have a Maryland non-tidal license before coming to the park. Meet at the Boat Center.

Come see the inside of Seneca Creek State Park's 1855 log farmhouse, the last surviving building from the original Germantown settlement. While visiting, try your hand at an old time craft: make a corn husk doll to take home. The cabin is adjacent to the Park Office.
