Stream Study

Patuxent River State Park 23222 Georgia Ave, Brookeville, MD

What's in the water? We'll look for crawfish, mayfly larvae, salamanders, and do some simple water quality tests in the Patuxent River at the Park. Close-toed shoes or sturdy sandals that can get wet are recommended (no flip-flops); may be canceled due to high water. Meet at the Nature Center.

Reptile Encounter

Seneca Creek State Park 11950 Clopper Road, Gaithersburg, MD

Come to the park for a fun, 30-45 minute program for all ages. Meet a living snake or turtle and examine shells and skins from reptiles living in the park! Meet at the Nature Shack by the Tire Playground.

Pontoon Tours

Seneca Creek State Park 11950 Clopper Road, Gaithersburg, MD

Take a relaxing 45-minute boat ride on the pontoon boat “Blue Heron.” Learn about history of the area and search for that wildlife that call Clopper Lake home. Tours are at 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. – meet at the Boat House. There is a small fee in addition to the park entrance fee.

National Dog Day Hike

National Dog Day celebrates all dogs, mixed breed and pure. Join Seneca Creek State Park staff for a 1.2-mile loop hike to celebrate our best friends: dogs. Wear comfortable walking shoes and bring water. All dogs must be on a leash. Meet at the Park Office.

Free Outdoor Concert

The Mansion at Strathmore 10701 Rockville Pike, North Bethesda, MD
