Trash Clean Up – Volunteer Opportunity

Help keep Patuxent River State Park clean and safe by removing some of the trash that has accumulated over the years. Please bring close-toed shoes, water, and work gloves. Ages 10 and over.

Pontoon Tours

Seneca Creek State Park 11950 Clopper Road, Gaithersburg, MD

Take a relaxing, 45-minute ride on the pontoon boat "Blue Heron." Learn about history of the area and search for the wildlife that call Clopper Lake home. There is a fee in addition to the park entrance fee. Tours begin at 2:00 and 4:00 p.m.

Invasive ID Hike

Seneca Creek State Park 11950 Clopper Road, Gaithersburg, MD

Learn what plants are beneficial to the native wildlife of Maryland, and learn how to identify plants that are considered “invasive.” Wear comfortable walking shoes and bring a plant identification guide (optional). Meet at the Blue Jay Pavilion.

Night Hike/Owl Prowl

Join us on a night walk through the woods to search for signs of owls and other animals. Many types of animals are more likely to be seen at night, so this is a great opportunity to catch a glimpse of some. Bring a flashlight if you have one!
