CCC Living History Program

Come to Seneca Creek State Park for a special twilight campfire living history program on “Roosevelt’s Tree Army,” the Civilian Conservation Corps during the Great Depression. Historian/Interpreter Ranger Erik will appear in character as George Richter, a civilian enrollee from Gaithersburg working at the CCC camp in New Germany State Park, to give you a first-person account of daily life in the Great Depression, the work of the CCC in Maryland’s parks, and impact of the Corps on the lives of the boys who participated in it. Meet at the campfire ring by the Park Office
