New Interpretative Panels at Black Rock Mill

On Nov. 8, a dedication ceremony was held at Black Rock Mill in Germantown for new interpretive panels at the mill. Part of Seneca Creek State Park and located along the banks of Great Seneca Creek, the remains of this 1815 grain-grinding mill feature reinstalled period gears and machinery and represents a time before the Civil War when Maryland was a part of the nation’s “Wheat Basket.”

HM is pleased to have supported this project with an FY18 Mini Grant as well as providing technical support in developing the panels. The project is an excellent example of working partnerships between Heritage Montgomery and the Friends of Seneca Creek State Park, Montgomery County government, and the Maryland Park Service.
