Heritage Harvest Festival

Heritage Montgomery’s Heritage Harvest is a celebration of autumn and the fall harvest. A wide array of farms open free to the public have included farm markets, wineries and vineyards, a brewery, CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) farm, animal sanctuary, living history farm, lavender farm, and much more. Fun family activities include farm tours, markets, crafts for kids, live music, adorable farm animals, historic structures, and food for sale.

Join us for a fun weekend exploring the beautiful autumnal countryside! All activities are free unless noted by ($).

Note: Also happening on October 5 is the annual Harvest Festival at Montgomery Park’s Agricultural History Farm Park, featuring farm animals, hayrides, history, music, food, and more. The hours are 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., and there is a charge of $15 per car for entry. It’s one more fun thing to do while you’re out on your harvest tour!

Alden Farms

Roam peaceful gardens on a 2-acre Victorian homestead featuring original stone sculptures and works by local artisans. Reggae music performances by Bob Marley Workshop. Harvest Lunch with Poolesville’s Watershed Café ($). An on-site, pop-up arts fair featuring hand-crafted goods from local artisans.

Button Farm Living History Center

Tour the living history farm with museum garden and heritage breed animals. Historical farm chores, games, and cider press. Self-guided tours from 10:00 a.m. – noon; programs begin at noon. Local produce for sale ($). Meet visiting animals from Star Gazing Farm Animal Sanctuary.

East Rivendell Farm – 8am to 4pm

Located in Montgomery County’s Agricultural Reserve, this chemical-free farm produces non-GMO fruits and vegetables for sale in its market ($). They also have a wide variety of farm animals!

JWR Farm – Saturday only

A unique 3-acre suburban farm site growing annual and perennial crops. Produce, chocolates, and food for sale ($). Community group TimeBank Repair Café demonstrates their “Don’t toss it – FIX it” philosophy.  

Linden Farm – Saturday only

Montgomery Planning Dept.’s Rustic Roads and Historic Preservation staff will host walks and talks about Martinsburg Road, a designated historic resource and rustic road. Tour the “green” renovation of the historic Gothic dairy barn. Music by Bethesda Bach to Rock.
